Common Sunburst Lichen

Wednesday night we had a thunderstorm w/ all of the 'fixins'  - thunder, lightening, wind, rain.  Very rare for the Northwoods in December.  The three days of relatively warm weather and then the rain dissipated much of the snow pack we'd been building.  Whip and I took a walk (actually she took a run).  I didn't see any trees downed.  Did notice that the snow was now pockmarked from the rain drops and dirty.  Probably specks of soil picked up from further south and carried on the wind.  Before I could get depressed on the ugly state of the snow pack large flakes began to fall.  It snowed for most of the day but only accumulated to about an inch.  Enough to brighten things up again.
