Winterberry in Fall

Closed the library 5 minutes early (no patrons were there) and took off for the monthly town meeting.  Made it just as they were beginning.  Usually these meetings don't have an audiance but there were six of us in the seats that night.   The board went through the housekeeping stuff of accepting last month's minutes and financial report, opening town coorespondance, paying town bills.  Then they opened the meeting for public comment.   Mr. Wester spoke up and said he'd been driving school bus in the town this last month and some of our paved roads weren't very good.  The town board said they would talk about that when they discussed roads.  Next on the town agenda was county redistricting.  I asked to address the board and explained why I was against the current plan.  The Planning Commission rep also said it was a bad idea and the board decided not to sign off on it.  (Don't know if that will make a difference to the county board though).  Next was the Library's budget.  Our town is one of three that pay for the library so the librarian was there w/ the budget and asked the board to OK it.  (Hopefully she won't wonder how I closed the library at 7 and still made it to the meeting at 7.)  Finally, the board talked roads - where to put gravel, where to grade, where to blow leaves off.  (I swear that roads are the most important thing the board takes care of and yet one of the most boring.)   Meeting adjourned and we all made small talk w/ our neighbors before departing for home.
