Layers of Fog
Kathy and I planned on Thursday for our Fair Day awhile ago. So when the forecast was for thunderstorms that afternoon, it was too late to change dates. We worked w/ what we had. For a little adventure we decided to walk to a nearby bus station, take a city bus to the Mall where we knew dedicated fair buses left every fifteen minutes. It all worked well until we got to the Mall and found there would be no fair buses leaving from there until 9 (it was only a little after 7 at that time). Caught another bus and eventually worked our way up to the Fair. I had made a list of what I wanted to do and we set out to get everything completed quickly and efficiently. I stopped at the outdoor Northwoods Industries display of patio furniture and ordered a few more pieces I needed (get 10% off when ordered at the Fair). Checked out the dog breeds being shown and then cat furniture. Got some ideas. Think I can spend the winter retraining the cats to use scratching posts instead of the furniture. Down to the DNR pond to hear a talk on local fish species from an agent. Over to the Colosseum to pick up a couple more rocks from Costigan Minerals for my collection. We ate, watched people walk by, listened to a band, and took the overhead Skyrides to crisscross the Fair grounds quickly. By 1 p.m. we were standing in line for the bus and feeling the first drops of rain. It held off until we made it back to our respective hotels. Then the sky opened up and it positively poured. So, all in all, a pretty perfect Fair Day.
