Connie and Phil

Normally, I would stay in the northern subburbs of the Big City near where the State Fair is held (or call cousins Rick & Dawn to see if I could sleep in their guestroom).  However, friend Kathy and her husband were up from Texas and staying south of downtown in a hotel suite w/ kitchen included since they were in town for an extended period of time.  Kathy suggested I try a brand new hotel just across the driveway from theirs.  I checked in and went up to see my room first.  A spacious bathroom, efficient built-in wood closet/fridge/coffee maker and an immense flat screen TV.  OK by me.  However, I didn't sleep very well.  Had to get out of bed to turn off the lights and it sounded like white noise was being played in the room all night.  The TV channels available were half sporting events and the other half political pundit talk shows.   I thought the bed would be made the next day and the used towels removed but Kathy said hotels stopped doing that.   (What happened to leaving a chocolate on the pillow?).   I never had to wait for the elevator, never saw another person on my floor, never saw anyone at breakfast.   In fact didn't see another guest until the last day when my card key no longer worked and I had to go to the front desk to get it rekeyed.  Another lady was there w/ the same problem.  Figure it will be a very nice hotel - just a few startup glitches.
