Violets
I ran out of room to write more to-do items on the white board. So I did what seemed easiest - I rewrote the board in smaller and neater print. That lasted for a little while but soon I couldn't add any more tasks again. Time to start checking off the things on the white board list. Another winter quilt that's too big for my washer to handle easily. Bopped down to the laundromat in town. Check. Had used up the last NexGard chewable at the beginning of the month. Called up the vet and picked up enough 'tick tablets' for Whip for the rest of the year. Check. On the drive over to the vet's and back, I listened to a book-on-tape that I want to finish this week. Still have about an hour to go. Semi-check? Washed the spare room's sheets and towels. Check. Sent out a Penzy Spices order. Check. Did my semi-annual clean of the septic system filter - check - and straightened the bunny statues atop the septic tank that had been blown askew over winter - check. Replant all of the potted flowers. That's a big job but at least I got my brother Phil's army boots planted w/ red begonias. Another semi-check. Pull yellow-rocket in the back field. Combined that w/ the dog's long walk. Found only one big grouping. They came out of the rain-soaked ground easily and I laid them atop some old bent-over blackberry canes. When I finished I felt like Boudica laying waste to her enemies and leaving their corpses to rot on the field of battle. CHECK! Mow the lawn. I don't know that you can have a No-Mow-May. There is still a week to go in the month and my lawn looked like a hay field (which it basically is). I did leave a large patch of violets blooming at the NW corner of the house. Check. That has freed up space on the white board - the rest of the things can wait until later.
