Many Hands Make Light Work

Whip and I stepped outside the front door, ready for our long morning walk.  She gave a bark and I saw that a truck was coming down the driveway.  It was Tony from the lumber company.  He'd just received a call from the concrete boys asking if I wanted a drain in the new building.  Since he happened to be only two miles away at the moment (plus Mike the Builder is on a project where he doesn't get phone reception) he thought he'd stop by and ask me.  We talked for a moment and then Whip and I took off.  Lots of things to do today.  Checked out the route of a new path I wanted to make; looked to see if the wet spot in the path would be dry enough to take the lawn mower over; find ephemerals in the woods.  The canopy is filling in fast and these little spring flowers will soon close up shop for another year.  I checked out the nooks and crannies where I'd seen the flowers in past years or found their foliage earlier this year.  Whip was racing back and forth through the forest chasing squirrels and smells.  After an hour we headed home.  When I turned the corner of the house there were three trucks and lots of guys putting in the forms for the floor of the new building.  Whip had raced ahead of me on the path and I was worried how she might react to these strangers.  Found her sitting at the front door watching their activity.  Good dog!
