I was drinking coffee this morning when Whip started barking. I looked out. There were three guys just looking at the forms and insulation in Sleipnir. "Isn't there suppose to coils in the slab?" They asked when I went out. "Yes. Mike thought they would be putting those in on Friday but it rained all day." I replied. They called and the cement truck was sent to another job. They left. I was getting ready for our morning walk when Whip barked again. Winco (heating and A/C) was waiting for his crew to arrive. They would be laying down the heating coils. Since he didn't need me around, I and the dog took off for a walk. An hour later, wet up to my knees and twigs in my hair, Whip and I arrived back. The crew had just finished putting in the tubing for heat. Winco said he was doing a lot of small jobs this year - the large projects were put off either because the owners couldn't handle the cost spike in materials or the construction companies couldn't get materials at any price. Before the crew left they said to expect the cement truck coming in to pour later in the day. I looked around after they were gone. I'd moved the garden pole to safety already and left a cap over the hole. The cement guys had run over that and crushed it the first time they came. I had all of the overwintered plants sitting on the ground outside of Mjolnir. Moved them back inside. For good measure moved the two small tables and bench I had sitting outside of Mjolnir also. The cement crew and truck never showed. I'll leave everything tucked away until they have finally come and gone.
