The excavating guy was back early this morning and dug the building area down to a strata of clay. He then backfilled it in w/ sand and gravel and packed the rich top soil he'd removed around the outside bringing the whole area up to just above the level of the driveway. The day before we'd talked about topography. There is still an area behind the building which is left wild. It's always been on the soggy side and even my neighbor Blake avoids running machinery over that place. It will handle runoff from the back of the building. In front, the water will slowly seep toward a small slough just beyond Haven. Think I'm OK w/ rain. Not sure how the new building will affect snow drifting.
