The spring

 I do like the silence of winter.  It's calming ... rejuvenating.  However, I also like the sounds spring brings back.  I and the dog stopped during our pre-dawn constitutional before turning back toward home.  There was the beginning of a morning chorus.  I could hear ducks, red-winged blackbirds, and some robins.  Not as robust as it will be later on but I can definitely hear the melody developing.  The dog and I took an early walk since the afternoon is forecast to be rainy.  We go a slightly different way each day and this trip took us through the back 40 and up and down the woods, hills, and ravines there.  The first ravine had a trickle of water flowing down toward the swamp.   Quiet enough in the forest that I could hear the water as it fell over tiny obstacles on it's journey.  Got home before the thunder and rain 'plops' began.  Yeah, spring can be noisy.
