Sunrise - November 4
I paid my first bill in the new year. As you know my filing system isn't very sophisticated. I keep a plastic tote w/ each year's receipts in it. Storage is on a garage shelf. I went out there tonight and saw that the tote marked '2008' was the oldest one I have. I will toss it's contents and mark it as '2021'. First I sat on the floor and went quickly through it's contents - partially to reminisce and partially to make sure there wasn't something I wanted to keep. Found a picture of Roma and her family. Used to work w/ her at Honeywell. Must have gotten it in a Christmas card. I see that I was still attending Grace Baptist Church. Then a bill from an endodontist. Bet I had a root canal filled. Can't tell from the bill: it has a code for what was done, the number of the tooth it was done to, and under description is something that looks like a hieroglyphic. There is a plastic wristband in the tote from when I got a colonoscopy. Had one last year so that's around one every 10 years. I have two bills from Classic Auto Collision Center. That would probably be a 'vehicle versus deer' and 'vehicle versus bear' (as the Sheriff's Report phrases such encounters). I still have the same insurance as then. They paid all of my 'vehicle versus ...' w/o question and I only had to pay $100 per. There is a note and payment from the County Clerk of Courts to me. I was called for jury duty and spent a morning at the Court House but didn't get put on a jury so my total payment was $10. I see I was still working as a milk maid at $9.50/hour. A bunch of slips from the library for the books I checked out. The top one said 'Billy Bud' - yikes - not a story I really want to remember. Some paperwork from when I bought my garden tractor. Funny I thought I'd bought that the year before. There were also two credit card sized pieces of plastic: Government issued TV Converter Box credit coupons - good for $40 off a TV converter box. I'll burn all of the rest of the stuff but those coupons are time capsule worthy.
