The librarian called a Zoom meeting of the volunteers. The state has lifted a few of the restrictions on non-essential businesses so we can open again for people to pick up books curbside. People will order books over the on-line system (or call the library), we will schedule a time for them to pick up their books, the books will be in a paper bag and we will put them in their car trunk. Only one volunteer is allowed at a time in the library. We can't accept books people want to return - they have to put them in the book drop. We can't hand the books in through a car window but can leave them on the sidewalk and people can step out of their car and pick up the bag themselves. For someone who worked the last election, I think the whole process could be much more streamlined but between the state, the library system, and the librarian it's probably easier to go w/ the flow and let things smooth out on their own.
By the way it's the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. I found the first ticks of the season on me after today's walk.
