First of the Wild Plum Blossoms

My sister Connie said that Mom used frozen bread to make her cinnamon rolls so I tried that. Worked great! Think I've finally got a workable recipe. Did notice though, w/ all of this practicing, that I was getting low on cinnamon. Time to order spices. I pulled up Penzy's on-line website. Ordered crushed red pepper flakes, minced garlic, saffron, along w/ the cinnamon I needed. Double checked my cupboard to see if there was anything else. I rarely use salt but checked the bag of kosher salt I'd picked up in the past.  It had a 'Best Used By' date printed and that was last January! How interesting. Salt is a mineral, often dug from the earth. It would take an incredibly long time for it to start 'going bad'. Instead of a 'shelf-life date' it would be more apropos to print it's 'half-life date'. That would spawn a few kitchen conversations.

Yes, she used frozen bread dough in her later years. I understand, now, why she did this. Our hands don't work as well to knead dough and stir, etc.as we get older. The recipe for her original bread and roll mixture is in the thick green recipe book that was falling apart the last time I saw it. Don't know who has that book now, but it is probably well marked. Lol.
