Pre-dawn
The town treasurer comes to the town hall once before the end of the year so people can come in and pay property taxes directly to her. I assume most people opt to pay them by mail or after the New Year but I like to take advantage of shooting the breeze w/ Michelle. I walked into her office and she asked how I was doing so I told her my story of the Christmas kidney stone. Michelle said her niece had a bunch of them as a child. Ouch! The same thing happened when I went into the clinic. I was just getting some blood drawn for labs before my regular yearly checkup in January. The nurse saw where I'd had an IV put in and asked what happened. Turns out she had salivary stones which is the same thing as kidney stones only these occur in the glands in the mouth. Ouch! I'd forgotten until my brother reminded me that his kidney stone had required surgery to remove. Ouch! I'm not telling anyone else my Christmas tale - too painful.
