Female Harrier

I didn't have a particular need to mow.  It's not like people passing can see the lawn and my neighbors consider it my business if I mow at all.  I do think though that long grass under the snow encourages little rodents to come in closer and I'd rather they overwintered in the meadow than around my house or, worse, in my garage.  The ground was still a bit wet in low areas but the forecast is for a few days of rain and when the sky finally clears the temps will fall below freezing.  This was probably my last chance.   The gas gauge was already in the red so I did a quick sweep of the outer paths.  If I ran out of fuel would rather be closer in to home.  After I finished the lawn I carefully backed the mower into the position it will spend the winter.  Another autumn task completed.
