May first. Beautiful weather and even though we are not beyond the danger of more freezing temps, nature is waking up fast. These little wood frogs down at the Gorge are looking for mates so they can get the next generation started. I sat on the deck this afternoon and life was busy - swallows swooping through the sky looking for bugs, goldfinches chirping away at the bird feeders, and from that vantage point I could see a red blush through the forest. The maples are 'flowering'. I myself celebrated May Day by flying a kite and quoting a little naughty diddy I memorized about the day. Always makes me smile.
