Taken around 1937 on the Chester and Daisy Kurtz farm. The two Mayer brothers were dating the two Kurtz sisters. Herbert and Neil put on the 'girls' coats and Irene and June donned the 'boys' hats for the picture.
Wednesday morning, January 31st, will be what is toted as the "Super Blood Blue Moon". Basically it's a lunar eclipse and if you have clear skies just before sunrise it will be cool to watch the moon turn a copper color (the moon will set before it goes into full eclipse on the East Coast though). Lunar eclipses always occur during a full moon and are often referred to as 'Blood Moons' because of the color. A 'Blue Moon' is just a phenomena of how the Gregorian calendar was set up - nothing more. A 'Super Moon' means the moon is at perigee in it's orbit around the earth. Most people wouldn't even notice a 6% increase from average size so it seems disingenuous to call it 'super'. In addition, this 'super' full moon will occur a day after perigee - close enough, I guess, to get the misnomer. The last total lunar eclipse in September 2015 occurred within an hour of perigee so maybe that one was even more 'super'. If you miss this 'Super Blood Moon' the next one is January 2019. That one won't be 'Blue' but a mere change to the calendar could make it one.
