Sunset on Deer Rifle season
The nine day hunting season on deer with a rifle ended w/ sunset today. I know of only one death by gunshot (though there were at least three hunters that shot themselves by mistake). Our state in it's infinite wisdom decided to remove any age restrictions on hunting so a six year old shot her first deer. Call me whatever you want but the idea of a first-grader w/ a rifle sounds idiotic. I wore my blaze orange windbreaker as an added precaution on my short walks w/ Indy this week but it's getting too cold for it. I'll wash it tomorrow and stash it away for next year. I don't know if the deer w/ twin fawns that were born late in the spring survived but I did see three deer in my meadow before dawn this morning. Tomorrow the woods are ours again!
