Starlings

At least I think they are starlings.  A group of 20 to 30 settled into the hay field near the house.   Starlings stay around all winter and they are a gregarious bunch.  The same could be said of crows but when they gather it's more to talk - don't usually see them hunting in large groups like this.  Indy is favoring her front leg again so we did a number of short walks yesterday.  That meant passing Gorgeous Gorge several times.  It's below freezing at night but the days have been warmer w/ sun.  The ice on the gorge was groaning - something I haven't heard it do before.  I'll have to add both of these phenomena to my list of "Signs of coming Spring".
