Skunk Cabbage

Forecast was for 70 degrees today - warm for us this time of year. Indy and I took off for the swamps early. I finally found a skunk cabbage "flower" but it was far off the path. This was the first time I was able to wear my hiking boots after they dried out and stopped stinking from my last foray into the muck. I hated to go in again but wanted the picture more. This afternoon it was my first time checking the bird houses since I put them up a few weeks ago. I'd been watching tree swallows fighting over them and bluebird pairs ducking in and out of them. However only one pair of houses had any beginnings of a nest. Nice to see nature waking up again but I'm not getting too excited yet.  It's only April - we could still get more snow.
