Saw a butterfly on my walk today. It was fluttering around even though there are still splotches of snow here and there. Pretty sure this is a Painted Lady which is a butterfly you can find almost anywhere in the world. What I didn't realize is some Painted Ladies in Europe fly south to Africa for the winter. Thought it was only the Monarchs that migrated. I just assumed early season butterflies overwintered - like this specimen which looks a little beat up. One more thing to check on.
