The Superbowl is not using the traditional Roman numerals this time but reverting to "50". It's all because the Roman's used "L" to depict the number 50 and marketing people didn't want their merchandise emblazoned w/ the symbol jocks have used for years when referring to nerds (thumb and forefinger brought to the forehead). Personally, not being a football fan (w/ the occasional exception for the Packers), I find "L" to be apropos for all the hype (I mean, $5 million for a 30 second commercial?) given to the airing of this one game. I am though very impressed that, despite all of the talk about keeping Muslims from coming to the U.S. and grouping them together w/ ISIS or al-Qaeda, no one is making a fuss about reverting to Arabic numbers.
