Turk's-cap Lily

This is the largest of our native lilies. It used to be seen everywhere in ditches along roadways but now w/ mowing, they are no longer easy to find. This one was blooming in a favorite slough of mine. Actually, it was a great day for a walk. Elderberry, milkweed, and bergamot are in bloom so the fields are aromatic (and in a good way!) Found merganser's on the pond. Saw two deer w/ their fawns. Got some butterfly pics. Lots of my "good neighbors" were out and about enjoying a pleasant summer's afternoon while my not-so-nice-neighbors (namely those pesky ticks) are nowhere to be found.
