Hepatica
A rule of photography is that dawn and dusk will give you wonderful colors and contrasts in your pictures. Another reason to get out and take pictures at that time around here is the fauna are on the move, either going home or waking up. Indy alerted me at 6 a.m. that a herd of five deer were passing through the yard on their way back to the forest. Still too dark for pictures. A short time later, a coyote crossed the field checking for a breakfast of mice. The morning chorus of birds had begun by this time. As more birds return from the south, the chorus is becoming more melodic - added in a few warblers, I think, this weekend. I noticed something in a pin cherry tree across the field. I wasn't sure what kind of bird it was but it was big. I slowly walked toward it snapping pictures. Instead of flying away, it started crawling down the tree. No bird. With any luck, I'll have a picture of it on the blog tonight.
