Coming Home

Day started w/ northern lights in an arc over the farmstead of my neighbors to the north. Looked like a holy halo over a crèche. Three cows freshened while we were milking. One was a heifer and a kicker. I couldn't get her to stand still long enough to give her a shot of oxytocin. When the herdsman started putting on her collar, I took my "shot". While the heifer tried to avoid the herdsman at her head, I placed the needle point next to her thigh and she danced right into it. This afternoon I begged coffee off my neighbors and caught up on what was going on in the area. Even though I was reminded that it had been -22 degrees just 10 days ago, I looked around for any green growth on the walk w/ Indy. Found some moss that seemed to be growing but that was it. That's the highlights of my day.
