Swamp by winter
I read once that the human mind likes to make narratives to connect everything it encounters - kind of a story of your life. That might be why I was so intrigued by an ad I found in the Real Simple magazine (by the way Becky, I haven't yet sent a thank you for giving me a subscription but I'm getting to it). The ad is for their line of Fine Stationary and consists of examples of wedding invitations, save-the-date notes, etc. casually placed on the page. The first was an invitation to the wedding of Dana Alison and Alexander William on October 12th, 2013 at 6 p.m. at the Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor Michigan. I was shocked then to realize the invitation below it was for Dana Alison to marry Emily Jane at the same date, time, and place. Below that was a card w/ the names Alexander and Sarah enclosed in a heart. What had happened? Had Alex and Dana planned on getting married until gay marriage was legalized in the state so Dana dumped Alex in favor of Emily -and- being the frugal sort, Dana didn't forfeit the down payments w/ all of the contracts by keeping the same wedding plans - and - Alex, heart broken, turned to Sarah? I suppose the more pertinent question is - Was this the reaction the advertising people were trying to invoke in the reader?

You're welcome! I don't think the marketing people thought that deeply about it personally. Ha!
