Milkweed pods

This afternoon I had a few errands downtown so Indy and I jumped in the car. First we stopped at Glory B's and ordered lunch/supper to go. Told the owner I'd be back soon. As I drove around town I was surprised at the number of cars and people. The village isn't usually hopping this early. My last errand was to pick up the library key for tomorrow. By now there were people everywhere outside. I asked the volunteer manning the desk what was going on. "Homecoming parade." he said. Wow, it had been a long time since I'd been to one. I could hear the band coming down the street. No chance of driving out of the parking lot now. Fortunately, the parade isn't all that large - a group of 1st graders w/ costumes and streamers, the high school marching band, 4 floats, and some cars w/ the homecoming court throwing candy to the crowd. Parade over, the crowd dispersed quickly and I was able to pick up my food order. It might have been a little cold but I guess that's the price of entertainment.
