Unusual Milkweed plant

"What good are milkweed plants?" my neighbor said. "Monarchs like them." I replied. (Since monarch butterfly numbers are down 70%, maybe I should have been more vehement in my response.) I adore milkweed plants for their pretty pink flowers and heavenly scent. Found this plant growing alongside hundreds of common milkweeds. It's got a piebald/bi color/camouflage thing going on that I've never seen before. Could be environmental or genetic. Thought I would wait until it puts on seed pods and then move the plant to a more secure location (it was less than two feet from being disked under). Hopefully I'll be able to figure out why it looks like this next year.
