Forecast was for rainstorms today so Indy and I took off early for our walk. My right hip hurt a bit and I wondered just how far we could go but, as usual, there were so many things I wanted to see. There was the unusual milkweed plant to check up on - it's not looking so good but it has one seedpod growing. Looked to see if there was any cotton grass in the tamarack swamp. I hadn't seen any all year but there are some blooming now. Searched for blue bead lilies - found the plants but no seeds. Wonder if something likes to eat them? More than usual turtlehead plants - they like the cool wet summer we are having. Surprise find were these Jack-in-the-pulpit berries - I don't often find them. No edible blackberries. Lots of different kinds of fungi, though. Didn't seem like very long before Indy and I were home again. I noticed that my hip didn't hurt any more. Guess I just needed to exercise it some to get the kinks out.
