Winter Rye

I sometimes set out on my walks w/ a purpose. Today it was to find an elusive flower that only grows in the forest. Didn't find it - might be a bit too early for it. However, I did walk by this small patch of winter rye that my nephew planted for a deer feed. Crouched down to watch a toad that was hopping across my path. Saw a red meadowhawk dragonfly resting on a dwarf milkweed plant.  Found the last of the Turks-cap lilies in bloom and a purple fringed orchid just starting. Walked past bushes of hazelnuts (both American and beaked), ripe raspberries, and found a chokecherry tree heavy w/ red berries. So what if I didn't find what I was looking for? Saw all sorts of things that I wasn't looking for. Oh, and Indy had a good time too.
