Bufflehead ducks

These little ducks have been cruising Gorgeous Gorge for a couple of days. They are migrating through on their way to Canadian nesting grounds. They are the smallest of ducks and more tolerant of my taking pictures than most kinds. However, after taking a picture, Indy and I back away and take another path for our walks. I figure they are resting up and no need to further disturb them. Of course, it's been so cold lately that they might be thinking they are already home.

I love buffleheads, but I've never seen them in the wild.
