Ski hill
Library duty this morning. One of the first things I do is go out to the drop box to pick up books that were left there overnight. I had my hands full as I walked back into the library (must be the cold weather has everyone staying in and reading.) I backdate the system to Friday and check in those books, audiobooks, and DVD's. One came in w/ just the case but no DVD inside - happens pretty often - so that one I set aside. Will do a little detective work, figure out who has it checked out and give them a call later. The regular computer users greeted me as they came in, sat down, and started clicking keys. A little kid who wasn't much taller than my desk, reached out his library card and asked if there were any books in for "Geisler". "There are always books in for the Geisler's." I replied. He seemed pleased to be known but it was true, nine books were waiting for him on the hold shelf. An older man perusing the stacks said he'd read everything by this author. Was there another author I could suggest? We decided on Michener and he checked out "Tales of the South Pacific" (should be a good winter read.) A lady stepped up to the desk and filled me in on her latest allergy problems. I know, sounds like it would be boring, but she tells her woes w/ such humor that it's hard not to be laughing w/ her by the end. Got to admit, volunteering is fun.
