Was rewrapping the bandage on my thumb today and got to thinking: What do people who have tattoos do when they get a scar? I've heard of people getting tattoos to cover existing scars but what about the other way around? Once they have a tattoo what if they get a burn, road rash, appendectomy, open heart surgery, etc. and it runs through their body decoration? Do they chalk it up to part of life when a scar now transects the anchor on their bicep? Do they ask the doc to remember to line up the American Flag on their chest after surgery? What if the scar obliterates a letter or a word in that quote they had tattooed on their leg and now it reads completely different? Don't misunderstand me - I'm all for tattoos, just as long as they are temporary.
