Least Weasel

The latest snowstorm had an unexpected benefit. The weasels have already changed from all white to their summer brown fur so this little guy was easy to see in my back yard. He's only a bit bigger than the mouse he just killed so I think this is a least weasel instead of a short-tail weasel. He's the smallest carnivore in North

America. I watched as he would burrow back into the snow at any strange sound before poking his head out again and grabbing his prize to run a bit further toward home. He'll keep the mice, voles, rats, and even the bunnies in check. Plus he's very cute. Hope he sticks around for awhile.
