Snow flurries on the way to church, on the way home from church, and on the walk w/ Indy. Great start to May. The first of May - Mayday - is celebrated in many countries and has it's roots in the Gaelic festival Beltane. Beltane is a "cross quarter" festival - half way between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. In Celtic and even Medieval periods, Beltane was celebrated w/ bonfires (often scented w/ juniper boughs). As cold as it is today, I can understand why they celebrated by lighting a fire!
