Rough-legged Hawk and Bald Eagle

Leaving food out for the deer has had some unexpected side effects.  One of them is seeing raptors in the trees above the corn stash.  I'm assuming both of these birds are watching for voles, mice, or rabbits that might come out into the open to steal a little corn.   I've seen the bald eagles all winter long but the rough-legged hawk might be just migrating through.  I'm at the very northern border of his winter range.  He'll be flying back to the Northwest Territories for the summer.  Hard to believe that in the winter, my back yard is more hospitable than his home place.  Brrr.
