Moon set on the last day of Winter

Got up early to catch a full moon setting through the bare trees.  Drove into town for breakfast and saw two robins - the first of this year.  Later was slogging through deep snow in the woods when I heard sandhill cranes.  I've often wondered/worried what there was around for these early birds to eat.  However, as I walked through a high field that is bereft of snow, I saw a spider, flies, and some kind of butterfly.   Since insects don't move very fast at these temps, I'm guessing they are easy pickings.   Hope so, it might be the last day of winter on the calendar but it will be at least another month before anything blooms.
