Meadowsweet (Spiraea alba)

We've had a lot of rain this year. Got another inch just last night. An acre of land is 43,560 square feet (think football field). A rainfall of 1 inch over 1 acre means 6,272,640 cubic inches of water (or 3,630 cubic feet of water). A cubic foot of water weighs 62.4 pounds. Therefore, the weight of 1 inch over 1 acre of land is 226,512 pounds. The weight of a gallon of water is 8.345 pounds so the rainfall of 1 inch over 1 acre of land equals 27,143 gallons of water. Something to think about next time we have a storm.
