Cardinal

The township's annual meeting was on Saturday. This meeting is for the community to come together. The chairman gives a sort of "state of the town" talk and then opens the meeting up for anything the assembly wants to discuss. The matter of raising the chairman and supervisor's pay came up. They are paid $35 for each meeting ($45 if it is all day). The amount was raised to $35 for any meeting two hours or less. Then the normal pay rate for any additional time. The normal pay rate for them is $9/hour. That was raised to $10.50. Not a lot of money. Even so, there was some dissension at raising the pay. Our county has the largest unemployment rate in the state and people were wondering if we should be raising pay rates in this economy. Who knows, maybe at the next caucus we'll have more people interested in running for office.
