The state has a new election data website. After each election, the clerk will enter voter stats on-line (how many people voted, how many absentee ballots were requested, etc.). If a clerk can't/doesn't want to enter via computer, the County Clerk will do it (but then they bill the municipality). First I went through a 4-part on-line instructional course. Not too bad as courses go. Now I & my computer have to be "certified" by the state elections board via a telephone conference. Working out a date for that. A lot of effort to automate a 2 page form but maybe it's a beginning for the state to computerize more of their forms.

What are the reasons that a computer has to be "certified"? Sounds like more gov. makework, but maybe you could share why that is needed.
