Color commentators for football games on TV talk like opera singers. My brother was here over the weekend, listened to a game in the afternoon, and I caught a part of it. No, the commentators weren't singing (thank goodness) but they did say the same things again and again. The other commentators were like the chorus, agreeing and repeating what was just said. Then another commentator would take up the refrain and repeat it all again. I've sat through enough hours of opera to recognize the pattern. A lot of words but not much is really said. While opera singers are better dressed than football players, at least the TV football games had regular commercials.
