Big Bluestem

Saw the zodiacal light this morning. Isn't the easiest thing to find. First, you need a night w/ no moon - the moon would wash it out. Second, you need to look for it around the time of the equinoxes when it is at it's most vertical. Third, you need a location where it is dark enough - if you can make out the Milky Way, you should be OK. Fourth, you need no clouds on the horizon. Fifth, you need to look for it about two hours before dawn. This morning, as I was getting into the car to go to work, all of those conditions were met. The Zodiacal Light is called the "false dawn" and is a triangular shaft of soft white diffuse light coming up from the east horizon. Pretty special to see it.
