Bobcat track

For lunch I celebrated Chinese New Year by picking up my favorites Mongolian Beef and Vegetable Fried Rice.  This afternoon I was looking for some old documents and wondered if I might have put them in a box where I have my "Old Keepsakes".  Got the box down, sat on the floor, and started going through it.  It contains my scrapbooks of newspaper articles from the Apollo space flights. My diploma from high school and college.  A poem I wrote in grade school and term papers for college courses.  My pilot log book, jump log book, and list of whitewater rivers a friend and I canoed one summer.  Notices of promotions, thank-yous for major projects completed, and some final tests for classes I took outside of college.  Cards from my grandparents.  A picture I took showing the Zeeman effect.  Awards for forensics, memorizing Bible verses, and playing the clarinet.  All sorts of bits and pieces that brought a smile to my face as I sifted through them (note: I only keep things from good stuff that happened).  Didn't find what I was looking for but no matter.  How better to spend a winter's afternoon than taking a walk down memory lane?

Sounds like a good way to spend the day. Isn't it good to see the handwriting of your grandparents! Joan and I have talked about combining pieces of our families handwriting into a collage or something like that.

My dad used to write lots of letters. We kept all the letters he wrote to Olivia and to me. I have noticed something about his handwriting, however. I often do a double take if I get something in the mail from Russ. Doug and Russ' handwriting are almost identical.
